Nights are short and it’s very difficult to cook a good ‘ol homemade meal when you have limited time between coming home from work and putting the kids to bed. My family only has about 4 hours from when we get home, to when the oldest goes to bed.  As working mom’s know, you don’t want to (nor do we have the time to) spend the evening in the kitchen.  We want to play with the kids.  Then we need to help them with homework (if they are school aged), get baths in, Change to PJ’s, help the kids brush their teeth, ect.  For stay at home mom’s it’s similar, the day can be filled with tasks that take them out of the house, or as I’ve been told (and understand since my husband works weekends) if you are a stay at home mom and you have young children it’s difficult to get things done during the day, as the kids often require your attention.

For this reason, I’ve decided to try monthly cooking.

Monthly (or weekly) cooking consists of spending an entire day cooking.  Shopping for ingredients is done prior to cooking day.   Since I don’t have a full day available to cook, I’m going to start with weekly cooking and use one day to cook meals for the next upcoming week.

My plan was to start this past Sunday.  However, my timeline has gotten delayed as I have had to cook 3 cakes this weekend, for my grandpa’s birthday, my son’s upcoming birthday and my cake decorating class.  So, this coming Saturday is my new start date.

I invite you to join me!  Let’s learn to free up our evenings together! (then we can tackle the house cleaning…lol)
